Matt & Gemma Flanagan have become inspirations for people facing a cancer journey.

After a double diagnosis the Townsville couple were faced to battle cancer together.

In 2016 Gemma was diagnosed with Breast Cancer, just 6 days later Matt was told he had Bowel Cancer.

Matt has completed his treatment and has recently returned to work, with Gemma hoping to make a return to work around July this year.

Thousands of followers have given their support to the fighters via The Flanagan Fight Facebook page.

"Just the two most incredible fighters. Love you both! X" -Lauren Brown
"You're amazing!! Bella and Harper will grow up knowing only how incredible their Mum is." -Michelle Caccioppoli

Matt & Gemma both say their daughters were their biggest motivations to beat cancer.

This morning at Cancer Council Queensland in Northward the pair were donned the Faces of Relay for 2017.

Matt & Gemma will join the Townsville Relay For Life volunteer committee at events leading up to Relay For Life 2017 to spread the word of making a cancer free future.

The courageous couple have even registered their own Relay For Life team, so will be 2 of hundreds of locals participating in the 18 hour event on September 16-17.

If you'd like to register a team or find out more info go to relayforlife.org.au
