Cop That!

Forget everything you saw about the T-rex in the Jurassic Park documentaries because it turns out they couldn’t even run.

New research into the Tyrannosaurus Rex suggests that not only did they have pissy little arms, they also couldn’t move at high speeds because their brittle legs would have broken, effectively meaning they had to walk everywhere.

Researchers at the University of Manchester say its size meant its leg bones would have buckled under its own weight.

"Being limited to walking speeds contradicts arguments of high-speed pursuit predation for the largest bipedal dinosaurs like T-Rex and demonstrates the power of multi-physics approaches for locomotor reconstructions of extinct animals." Professor William Sellers said.

The study looked into the biomechanics of T-Rex and used high-performance computing technology to create a new simulation model to test its findings.

Previously it was thought it had a top speed of up to 40 kilometres per hour, but turns out it's actually more like 27 kilometres.

Cop that T-Rex, you dickhead!
