The Twilight Tour of The Power of Gold starts at 5.30pm tonight and is a FREE event.
From carefully constructed displays of piety to economic wealth and power, gold is commonly associated with extravagance, religion, power and wealth. As a precious metal, gold is soft and malleable and presents a plethora of opportunities for artists to play.
This exhibition looks at the materiality of gold and its use with an artist’s touch.
On display are works from the Gallery’s Collections that include an element of gold, ranging from an extravagant use to modest highlights.
