Twitter Reacts To Nick Kyrgios' Wimbledon Retirement
Opinions Are Divided
Australia's top ranked tennis player Nick Kyrgios was forced to retire from his first round match at Wimbledon overnight thanks to a recurring hip injury.
The current World number 20 sought medical treatment after dropping the second of two sets against Frenchman Pierre-Hugues Herbert.
Despite being visibly hindered throughout the match by the injury that also ruled him out of Wimbledon lead-up tournament Queen's Club, social media expectably lit up following news of Kyrgios' retirement.
Even Collingwood Football Club legend Mick McGuane stuck the boots in...
It wasn't all harsh criticism for Kyrgios though, with some feeling for the tennis ace who tried playing through the pain.
Kyrgios intends to recuperate and then contest ATP tournaments in Atlanta and Washington as preparation for next month’s US Open.
