A man has been coward punched and another has had to have metal plates inserted into his face after a brutal bashing at A Day On The Green in Mount Duneed, Geelong, where Red Hot Chili Peppers played on Saturday night.

The Hot Breakfast’s Seb Costello broke the news exclusively this morning.

Lisa Barnes — the wife of one of the bashed men, Tim — spoke to Seb this morning.

“My husband was king hit from behind from some random in the crowd I think has hit him in the side of the face,” Lisa said.

“Then as he’s fallen to the ground, he think he’s kicked him in the back because he’s got bruising and his back’s really sore.

At this point, Tim and Lisa’s friend Kevin attempted to calm matters and that assailant’s attention turned to him.

“Our friend that was there with us has tried to intervene, well not intervene as such to take this bloke on, he just went to say ‘mate, settle down, no bluing’,” Lisa said.

“He’s turned on our friend and given him a nice old hiding to the point where he now has to have titanium plates put in his jaw, he’s got fractures throughout his face, he’s an absolute mess.”

Police are investigating the incident, but there has been no description of the man so far and no phone footage has surfaced.
