Two people have been charged over an alleged youth charity fraud.

Detectives yesterday charged two people following an extensive fraud-related investigation.

It will be alleged funds belonging to a church and community-based youth charity organisation were misappropriated and used for personal use between January 2014 and March 2018.

Investigators spoke with a 51-year-old man and a 60-year-old woman yesterday afternoon.

The pair, both from Woree, were each charged with fraud and are scheduled to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on March 21.
