Former UFC Middleweight Champion Robert Whittaker has opened up on his battle with mental health. 

Whittaker joined Triple M's Kennedy Molloy in-studio on Tuesday ahead of his upcoming speaking tour, which touches his recent realisation that mental health can affect everyone, including a UFC world champion.

"Me personally I've only identified this maybe in the last year," Whittaker told Triple M. 

"It's something I've always had that I kind of wrote off as who I am, until people I surround myself with say why do you keep falling off the rail at these times.

"Then I had to look back and start identifying the symptoms and then you like wow this happens to everybody."
