An empty house has been gutted by flames at Tanah Merah in Logan this morning.

A fire ripped through the single-storey brick property on Spica Drive at 3:50 on Tuesday, and the house was well involved by the time fire crews arrived at the scene.

Three trucks attended and managed to get the flames under control within an hour, and extinguished completely by 6am.

The scene was left in the hands of police, with fire investigators called in around 8 o'clock to determine the cause of the blaze.

It comes after another home in Logan was allegedly firebombed on Sunday night.

A family of seven escaped unharmed after three flaming objects, possibly Molotov Cocktails or something similar, were hurled at the Douglas St home in Woodridge.

Logan detectives are still investigating that incident.
