Vaccination Blitz Underway In High Risk Suburbs

A new vaccine blitz has been announced targeting 27 suburbs with first dose rates below 75 percent.

The blitz will include Deer Park, Caroline Springs, Fawkner, Hampton Park, St Kilda and Footscray.

Premier Daniel Andrews said getting vaccination rates up was crucial to keeping hospitalisation numbers low.

"There are very few people in hospital very sick who have been double-dose vaccinated, and that is all the reason you need, I think, to go and play your part.”

The Premier also announced, that soon Melburnians will be able to track the vaccination status of their own suburb.

“People will be able to identify the vaccination rate in their own suburb, there will be a new interactive map that’ll be published online and you’ll be able to go and see what the vaccination rate, first and second, is in your community.”

10 state vaccination hubs will be offering walk-up Moderna vaccinations from this weekend.
