Victoria enters its sixth lockdown amid growing fears of mystery Covid cases.

Earlier Thursday eight new cases of Covid-19 were reported with six reported from Wednesday’s results and a further two reported early Thursday.

Premier Dan Andrews faced the media at 4:15pm announcing imminent Lockdown from 8pm Thursday.

Reinforcing “we only get one chance”, the Premier said the state was not going to allow for any compromises.

“I want to make it very clear; we only get one chance to act fast, only one chance to make difficult decisions that are the right decision”

- Premier Dan Andrews

Pleading the importance of going straight home from work Mr Andrews said the lockdown commences at 8pm and not midnight, because the previous lockdown saw transmission happening at ”last drinks”.

State-wide, the lockdown extends into regional Victoria with virus fragments found in wastewater throughout the state.

“We have a sewerage test that has detect COVID-19 in the northeast, Wangaratta sewerage test has pinged, firstly positive, then it went negative, now it’s gone positive again,” he said. “We have some reason to believe there is COVID-19 in that community or has been in that community”

- Premier Dan Andrews

Schools will be closed, and resume home learning and the same restrictions apply as the last lockdown.
