Vision Australia have announced a partnership with Mildura Base Hospital Aboriginal Health Unit.
The organisations are working to ensure better access to eye care specialists and support for the local Indigenous community.
An orthoptist is available once a month to see indigenous patients who have poor vision and eye conditions, prioritizing those who are on dialysis.
The organisation had signed a memorandum of understanding with the hospital late last year, after identifying a need to improve the way it engaged with and supported the Aboriginal community.
Officials say diabetes is one of the biggest killers in the Aboriginal community and people can often end up with vision loss or other eye conditions.
