Shark Watch Network is helping WA get shark smart, and now the Capes region is going to be included in the shark-monitoring initiative.
From January next year, there will be full-time VR4 receivers which will recognise when a tagged shark is in the area.
Head of the South West Safe Sharks group, Keith Halnan, said that the trial will provide research data on the movement and population of great white sharks that will ultimately assist in saving the lives of surfers and swimmers across WA.
The trial is hopefully just the beginning of a number of changes that will improve the safety of our WA beaches.
