Wagga City Council has expressed concern that a reduction of $4.9 million in Council's Roads to Recovery funding allocation over the next five years, will see local roads deteriorate.

At last night's meeting, councillors authorised the Mayor and General Manager to write to Deputy Prime Minister Michael McCormack and a number of other politicians, expressing the need to restore the funding, at least to its previous level.

Their correspondence is also set to emphasise the risk of reducing funding on safety, with rural and regional roads having the highest rates of fatal accidents.
