Phillipa-Alice Kirwood, a local resident of Blacks Beach, reported seeing several blue bottle jellyfish along Blacks Beach on Sunday. It was brought on by big seas whipped up by ex-Cyclone Oma. Speaking to The Daily Mercury, Soetkins Pauwels, of Lamberts Beach, spotted three bluebottles during her morning walk there at the weekend. "I thought people should be warned that they are around, as surfers have been taking advantage of the waves caused by Cyclone Oma,” she said
Mackay Regional Council had to warn locals of Blue bottle Jelly Fish at the Seaforth Swimming Enclosure in January.
