We may or may not have gleaned most of our knowledge of ice hockey from watching The Mighty Ducks in the 90s but if this ain't a Knuckle Puck, we don't know what is.

NBC Sports commentator Pierre McGuire has had an extraordinarily close encounter with a hockey puck during Monday night's NHL game between Tampa Bay Lightning and the Columbus Blue Jackets.

According to USA Today, McGuire spends most of his time "Inside the Glass", which basically allows him to move between both sets of player benches to get the genuine feel and reaction to what's going on on the ice.

Unfortunately, that also puts him in a pretty dangerous position - as evidenced by this clip of just how close he came to being smashed by an errant puck.

And here's a slow-mo capture of the moment.

His reaction? "It's all part of what goes on down here."

What a legend.
