In the wake of the shock news surrounding Polly Farmer's posthumous diagnosis of the neurodegenerative disease CTE (chronic traumatic encephalopathy), Clairsy, Matt and Kymba spoke with Associate Professor Alan Pearce of La Trobe University to expand on this shock news and ask the question...

Is it safe for our kids to continue playing contact sport?

Professor Pearce's response is something every parent needs to at least consider.

LISTEN:

"If we can reduce that exposure (head contact), by just modifying the sport... we're just trying to limit the exposure and that's the important thing."

The scary thing about CTE is that it can't be diagnosed until after a person has passed, so the news that Farmer has been diagnosed with this condition will no doubt send shockwaves through the Australian sports community.

The chat in full with Professor Pearce is well worth the listen. Hear it below.
