Brisbane Heat coach Darren Lehmann is under no illusions that South African star import AB De Villiers will be his side’s saviour when he makes his BBL Debut against the Adelaide Strikers at GABBA this afternoon.

Heat fans have been patiently waiting for the arrival of the South African maestro since the announcement of his signing in October. However this morning Lehmann told Marto, Margaux and Nick Cody that they’ll be getting a mentally-refreshed and recharged De Villiers when he steps onto the GABBA deck “(he)…wanted to spend Christmas and New Years at home…he hasn’t done that for twenty years he was saying so fair enough, family comes first”

Despite his incredible record Lehmann isn’t expecting the owner of fastest century in ODI history to carry the batting hopes of the side which, despite it's depth, has been prone to collapse throughout BBL09 “I’d love all the other guys to take the pressure off him” Lehmann told The Big Breakfast.

With three games this week the Heat will need to win at least two matches to guarantee to keep their hopes of a spot in this year’s Top 5 alive.

However, they’ll need to keep an eye on the radar as rainfall is expected to hit in Brisbane this afternoon.
