Thursday's Australia Day is going to be one of the biggest on record with plenty of events happening right across the SouthWest.

BOYUP BROOK

Times: 9am-11am

Location: Sandakan Park

There will be a free cooked breakfast, entertainment and presentation of the Australia Day Citizenship Awards, recognising the Citizen of the Year, Sportsperson of the Year and the Young Achiever of the Year

BUNBURY

Times: all day from 6:30am

Location: Koombana Bay, Bicentennial Square

Events will be happening right across the day, with the main focus being the Koombana Bay foreshore.

From 6:30am, the Silver Chain Australia Day Fundraising Breakfast is at Bicentennial Square.

At 7am, the Bunbury Runners Club Fun Run kicks off around the Leschenault Inlet.

Then at 8:30am, the Mayors Citizenship and Awards Ceremony at the Graham Bricknell Music Shell.

The lead up to the City of Bunbury Skyfest Australia Day Celebrations begin at 4pm around Bicentennial Square. There will be lots of activities and entertainment for the family including kids cooking workshops, umbrella painting and special Big Bad Wolf and Little Red Riding Hood bikes.

A game bus for gamers will be set up, a petting zoo will be on site and Sprinkler City, with water activities for all people.

The Kids Stage will keep the little ones entertained with Jolly Jim the Pirate, Elsa and Anna from Frozen, plus Hey Presto the magician just to name a few.

Food vans will be located around the location plus a large market square.

The Family Concert will feature local musicians during the afternoon and early evening, leading up to the massive City of Bunbury Skyfest Fireworks Spectacular from 8:30pm.

The event is a smoke-free and drug-free event.

BUSSSELTON

Times: 6:45am-10am

Location: Busselton Foreshore

The Rotary Club of Busselton will form up at 6:45am from Victoria Square and march along Queen Street to Busselton Foreshore. The main formalities will begin at around 7:20am. Special guests include players from the Western Force and delegates from Sugito, Japan celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Busselton-Sugito Sister City Friendship.

A traditional Aussie breakfast will be served up for $5 for adults and a gold coin for kids under 14.

Entertainment from Sophie Thompson and the Busselton Brass Band.

 

BRIDGETOWN

Times: 7:30am-10am

Location: Bridgetown Agricultural Showgrounds, Peninsula Road

The local councillors will fire up the barbeque and host a free Aussie BBQ.

Also presentations of the Australia Day Citizenship Awards.

 

COLLIE

Times: 7am-9am

Location: Central Park, Forrest St

The Shire of Collie and the Lions Club of Collie present the Australia Day breakfast. There will be a parade from the Goods Shed, moving to the Central Park stage for the presentation of awards from 7:30am. Breakfast will be served afterwards for $5 each.

 

Times 6pm-9:45pm

Location: Central Park, Forrest St

This is a new event for Australia Day, a FREE family movie night under the stars at Central Park.

Fun for the whole family with giant board games, bouncy castle, face painting and plenty more.

Bring a picnic, use the BBQ facilities or purchase food from the food outlets. Then from 7:45pm, sit back and enjoy the movie Paper Planes (Rated G).

 

DUNSBOROUGH

Times: 8am-10am

Location: Dunsborough Foreshore

 

HARVEY

Times: 8am-10am

Location: Cookernup Playground

The Australia Day Breakfast is being hosted by the Shire of Harvey. It will be awarding the Australia Day Commuity Citizen of the Year Award during the morning.

The awards give the community the opportunity to recognise the individuals and groups making outstanding contributions to the Shire of Harvey community through their inspiring actions and dedicated service.

 

MANJIMUP

Times: 8am-2pm

Location: Manjimup Heritage & Timber Park, Edwards Street

There will be entertainment after the Australia Day Citizenship Awards including laser tag, bouncy castles, Lions train rides, face painting, live music and more.

Free bus transport will be available from Northcliffe, Walpole, Pemberton and Quinninup. Bus will arrive at 8:30am and leave at 1pm. Bookings for the bus – 9771 7712.

NANNUP

Times: 8am-10am

Location: Nannup Foreshore Park, Brockman Street

There will be a free Australia Day breakfast cooked up by the Nannup Lions Club from 8am. Then at 9am, the presentation of the Australia Day Citizenship Awards.

 

WAROONA

Times: 7:30am-11am

Location: Waroona Memorial Hall & Drakesbrook Place

Come down and join in the official shire celebrations with the Lions Club of Waroona breakfast, live music, street parade, Australia Day Address and Awards Ceremony, face painting, animal farm and much more!
