Motor vehicles have come a long way in the past 30 to 40 years and it was Friday, August 4th 1989 that the Area News reported that "cruise control" was a new instrument that could be fitted to vehicles after factory delivery, with Peter Brock in particular promoting the device.  Mandy caught up with local Gary Lanham who has been in the vehicle industry for many years to find out if he remembers this event.
