Richmond snapped the longest finals drought in the AFL on Friday night, defeating Geelong by 51 points.

The Tigers hadn't won a final since way back in 2001, when they defeated Carlton by 11 points in a semi final.

So - who's got the unwanted record now?

That belongs to Essendon, who have gone 13 years without a September victory, last managing the feat in 2004.

Thankfully for the Dons, they do have the opportunity to brush off that record after just a few hours with their elimination final against Sydney.

That would leave Melbourne, currently in second, as well as Gold Coast, who have never won a final, as the only teams not to win a final in the last decade
