A woman has died after being struck by lightning in Melbourne’s north-east.
The woman in her 20s was struck last night in Chirnside Park at about 8.40pm.
She died in hospital overnight.
A man in his 20s is also in hospital after being struck.
He was severely injured, and is listed in a critical but stable condition at the Alfred Hospital.
The lightning strike came amid a massive storm in Melbourne, with firefighters responding to a surge of calls between 8 and 9:30pm last night.
SES volunteers were called out to 32 people for help.
The Melbourne Victory v Western Sydney Wanderers game at Lakeside Stadium had to be stopped for over half an hour due to the storm making conditions unsafe.
