With temperatures in Sydney's west over 35C, NSW is well and truly sweltering in the current heatwave.
However, spare a thought for those living in western NSW, with it 45C at lunchtime in Bourke, and predictions it will hit 48C in the far-west this afternoon.
Such is the heat, that up north near Port Macquarie roads have started melting.
The Oxley highway near Wauchope started to look a bit off at around midday, with Walcha Council using water from a nearby river to cool the pavement.
"Roads and Maritime Services acknowledge water is a scarce resource at this time, however it is required to ensure the safety of motorists and keep the road open," a council statement said.
