The humble sausage. Chuck that snag in a rag with some dead horse and you've got yourself the perfect summer bbq snack.

But what if you were told we've been cooking snags wrong this whole time.

According to TheWhyChef.com we've been living a lie.

While many of us stick our bangers on the BBQ under sizzling heat, bake them or grill them quickly on a sizzling heat, there may in fact be a better way.

It’s not that the above methods are totally wrong – but according to TheWhyChef, the method to cooking the best sausage is to fry them in a pan on a low heat with some unsalted butter for 30 MINUTES.

Apparently, this method gives extra flavour and texture, with the butter complimenting sausage fat better than oil as well as lubricating the pan – but unsalted should be used otherwise the salt will crystallise and collect in your pan.

So there you go, the trick to the summer's best snag isn't to pick one up at Bunnings on a Saturday morning, it's slow frying them with chunk of unsalted butter.
