Delivery By Drone Getting Closer To Reality

Guzman y Gomez
The future is here for a few select Aussies.
Gourmet Mexican fast food purveyors Guzman y Gomez is busily trialling delivery of their fast food treats via drones, to a number of residences that skirt the border of New South Wales and the ACT.
Just watch this.
So exactly how does it work?
A ‘tester’ orders via app, which it sends to the Guzman y Gomez Drone Mothership. The meal is made fresh on the spot, and when ready to go, a drone is ordered from the launch site and hovers about 5 metres above the G y G lunch pad. It deploys a hook, to which the package is attached and then whizzed off for delivery.
The drone drops the order gently on the ground, the hook detaches and winches back up, and the drone then flies back to the launch site.
Next level!
There’s little doubt that at some stage in the near future, this sort of delivery method will become the norm. Definitely a case of when, not if.
