Facebook has formally launched a brand new feature that could change the way you order...but there is a catch for us Aussies.

The 'Order Food' feature has activated, partnering with delivery companies and restaurants to optimise the way you order your food.

Facebook announced the new service on Friday, saying it's partnered with plenty of delivery companies and directly with restaurants to corner the food ordering market, meaning users can order without ever leaving Facebook.

"Today, we’re taking the time out of finding what you want to eat by officially launching the ability to order food for pick-up or delivery, directly on Facebook," the company said in a blog post.

"People already go to Facebook to figure out what to eat by reading about nearby restaurants, and seeing what their friends say about them. So, we’re making it even easier.

"We’ve been testing this since last year, and after responding to feedback and adding more partners, we’re rolling out everywhere in the US on iOS, Android and desktop."

Sadly, it's only live in the United States at the moment, meaning us poor Aussies will have to wait.

There's no word on how long this will take to roll out in other countries, but we'll be keen to keep an eye on it.
