IKEA

They are, inarguably, the best part of a trip to IKEA, and now the Swedish flat-pack juggernaut has given their meatballs a very Aussie makeover.

The limited edition "Roo Ball" is the first time IKEA has customised their delicious in-house snack for a local market and, like the original meatballs and the chicken balls, will be made with 100 per cent Aussie ingredients.

"We're confident that we've created a new meatball that is truly delicious and, most importantly, can easily be recreated at home at an affordable price," IKEA Australia Food Manager Ivana Frost said.

"With the Roo Ball, we are so excited to offer a limited-edition product that brings together the best of both worlds by uniting our Swedish heritage with modern Australian cuisine."

Unfortunately, there's a small catch: You won't actually be able to get them in an IKEA store - yet.

For the time being, Roo Balls will only be available to people attending the company's Democratic Design Days Festival at The Rocks' Museum of Contemporary Art in Sydney.

BUT there is good news on the horizon. If the Roo Balls prove successful, they'll be rolled right into IKEA stores around the country as a permanent menu option.

If you're keen to head along to the Democratic Design Days Festival AKA be one of the first people to try Roo Balls, you should be able to find all the info you'll need right here.
