Pizza Hut has teamed up with Toyota and are looking to develop the world's first self-driving pizza van.

The companies announced the partnership on Monday that could see self-driving pizza delivery vans hit the road in just a few years.

Toyota revealed the vehicle, an autonomous concept vehicle called the e-Palette, at a conference in Las Vegas on Monday.

It could be one day be used to deliver - and even cook - pizza, and they plan to test the van as early as 2020.

"We are focused on technology-based solutions that enable our team members and drivers to deliver even better customer experiences," Pizza Hut US president Artie Starrs said in a statement.

"With Toyota, we are excited to be partnering with an undisputed leader in human mobility with a reputation for innovation, reliability and efficiency, as we define the pizza delivery experience of the future."

It's drawn comparisons to a recent episode of Netflix's Black Mirror, where a self-driving pizza truck is pretty central to the plot - and not in a great way.
