Summer has hit and although for much of Australia, it's been a mild start, that hasn't stopped the festive season kicking into gear... 'tis the season and all.

To celebrate the festiveness, the people at Kraken Rum have released a bunch of summer rum cocktail recipes that quite frankly, have us thinking about a warm summer's night with said cocktail in hand.

Speaking of which, their people tell us that there's a limited-edition Kraken Ceramic bottle on offer for purchase this Christmas, which will please anyone who thinks these bottles are a work of art on their own.

 

Without further ado, here are the summer rum recipes. YES!

BANANA OLD KRAKEN

  • 60ml Kraken Black Spiced Rum
  • 7ml Banana liqueur
  • 7ml Demerara syrup (1:1 Demerara sugar to water)
  • 3 dashes Angostura Bitters
  • Pinch of sea salt

Combine all ingredients in a mixing glass. Stir with ice, then strain into a rocks glass over fresh ice. Garnish with a lime twist.

BLACK MOJITO

  • 60ml Kraken Black Spiced Rum
  • 2 slices Lime
  • Mint leaves
  • 1 tbsp Sugar
  • Club soda

Muddle lime, sugar, and mint in a glass. Add fresh ice and Kraken Rum, stir, and top with soda.

KRAKEN COLD BREW

  • 30ml Kraken Black Spiced Rum
  • 90ml Cold brewed coffee
  • Mint sprig
  • Coffee beans

Combine all ingredients in a mixing glass. Stir with ice, then strain into a highball glass over fresh crushed ice. Garnish with mint and coffee beans.

KRAKEN CIDER CRUSH

  • 30ml Kraken Black Spiced Rum
  • 7ml Cinnamon sugar (1:1 sugar to water simmered with 4 cinnamon sticks)
  • 7ml Lemon juice
  • Dry cider, to top

Combine ingredients in a mixing glass with ice and stir. Strain into a coupe glass, then top with cider. Garnish with a lemon wedge and cloves.

INK PUNCH

  • 6 parts Kraken Black Spiced Rum
  • 2 parts Sweet vermouth
  • 6 parts Chai tea (chilled)
  • 2 parts Honey syrup (1:1 honey to water)
  • 2 parts Berry juice (black and blue)
  • 1 part Lemon juice
  • 2 dashes Chocolate bitters

Combine all ingredients in punch bowl over large chunks of ice. Garnish the bowl with lemon wheels, orange slices, berries, edible flowers. Garnish each glass with seasonal berries.

KRAMBLE

  • 50ml Kraken Black Spiced Rum
  • 15ml Crème de cassis
  • 7ml Lemon juice
  • 4 – 5 Muddled blackberries

Muddle blackberries in the bottom of a large rocks glass. Combine all other ingredients into a shaker tin with crushed ice. Shake then pour on top of the muddled blackberries without straining. Top with more crushed ice and garnish with more blackberries.

HONEYSUCKLER

  • 60ml Kraken Black Spiced Rum
  • 30ml Fresh lemon juice
  • 20ml Honey syrup (1:1 honey to water)
  • 3 Sage leaves

Combine all ingredients in a shaker tin. Add ice and shake. Fine strain into a chilled coupe glass and garnish with a sage leaf.
