Taco Bell Spreading Out With 50 New Restaurants In Australia

Brisbane can no longer claim Taco Bell as their own as the Mexican fast food franchise has announced dozens of  new restaurants across Australia.

The American-based chain's store in Annerley has proven so successful that franchisee Collins Foods today confirmed that they'll be rolling out more than 50 new locations over the next three years.

While the first few new shops will be in South East Queensland (Robina, North Lakes and Cleveland to start), the company said the rest of Australia wouldn't have to wait long.

"We don't have specifics to share at this stage, but let's just say not all 50 will be opening in Queensland," a spokesperson said.

Taco Bell's Asia Pacific managing director Ankush Tuli added: "We have had an overwhelming response to the launch of Taco Bell in Brisbane and we know that the Australian market is hungry for more.

"We can't wait to give our passionate fans in Australia the chance to enjoy Taco Bell in more cities across the country."

This will mark the third time the company has attempted to move into Australia; the first, in the early '80s, resulted in Taco Bell being sued by a local restaurant with a similar name while the second saw them exit in 2005 after just eight years in the market.
