It has crotch-kicking, Sam Rockwell and enough swearing to make a tradie blush which makes Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri our new favourite movie.

The flick, which picked up a handful of Golden Globes over the weekend, doesn't sound like it should be funny; it follows the story of Mildred, played by Frances McDormand, as she sets out on a one-woman crusade to avenge her daughter's murder.

But it's directed by Martin McDonagh, the bloke responsible for In Bruges and Six Shooter, so it's rammed with seriously dark humour and plenty of violence.

Like we said, there's a "f**k" and a "c**t" dropped in the first seven seconds of the trailer, and the profanity just keeps on coming.

It's also been a while since we've seen Sam Rockwell in a movie; the 49-year-old took out the Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture on Sunday for his portrayal of the idiot cop Dixon, whose racism is only topped by his violence.

Plus there's Woody Harrelson, Peter Dinklage and a scene where Frances McDormand kicks another woman in the crotch. What more do you want?

Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, is out in Aussie cinemas now.
