Sylvester Stallone has hinted that the return of one of cinema's greatest ever bad guys Ivan Drago could be on the cards.

Stallone, the veteran of six 'Rocky' films, handed over the directorial and scripting duties to Ryan Cooler to reprise his role in 2015's critically acclaimed 'Creed', a role that earned him the Golden Globe for 'Best Supporting Actor'.

Now Stallone has sent social media into meltdown hinting at the return of Drago, the man responsible for killing Apollo Creed, the father of 'Creeds' main character, Adonis.

Taking to Instagram, Stallone posted a superimposed image of Drago and Adonis Creed facing off with the caption:”Here's a chance to stretch your imagination... HISTORY WILL ALWAYS REPEAT ITSELF IN ONE FORM OR ANOTHER, JUST GOT TO BE READY!"

It is unclear if Dolph Lundgren, the actor who played Drago, has signed on to reprise the role for Creed 2, or what sort of role he would play in the film which is still without a release date.
