Tenacious D have dropped the full hour-long animated movie Post Apocalypto, which accompanies their album of the same name.

Hand-drawn by band member Jack Black, the flick follows he and his comedic partner Kyle Gass as they continue to rock out in a grey, miserable post-apocalyptic world.

Keen Tenacious D fans will probably already know that the band has been dropping instalments of the full movie over the last few months, but now the entire story is available to stream online - and for free - in honour of the album's release on November 2.

Black told Rolling Stone in September that Post-Apocalypto, which features songs from the album, was actually written before the music.

"The story [came first]," he said. "We kind of hit the beginning, middle and end of each episode and then would write music kind of like on assignment to speak to that particular episode."

Black also admitted that animating the story became his "serious job" but that he thinks he "likes it more than acting".

"I was doing it all the time," the 49-year-old explained. "I was 9-5in' it.

"I have to say, I really enjoyed the process. And I hope this thing is a gigantic success and we have to another season because I'm digging it."

If you've got a spare hour on your hands, the full Post-Apocalypto movie is below or bookmark here for a later viewing.
