The long-stalled third Bill & Ted movie — Bill & Ted Face the Music — has been in development since 2010.

It’s had issues that have pushed it back over and over, but co-writer and co-creator Ed Solomon said that those issues may be at an end.

We are hoping to close a deal with some financiers,” Solomon told Entertainment Weekly.

“Hopefully within the next month or so, we’ll have news that will stick.”

Solomon’s creative partner Chris Matheson and stars Alex Winter (Bill) and Keanu Reeves (Ted) are on board, as are director Dean Parisot and producers Steven Soderbergh and Scott Kroopf.

The movie would take place decades after Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey, with Bill and Ted struggling with the fact that they never saved the world with their music.

“You’re told you’re gonna save the world, and now you’re 50 and you haven’t done it,” Matheson said.

“Now they’re married, and it affects their marriages, and it affects their relationships with their kids, and it affects their everything.”

Solomon said that the movie would be “kind of like A Christmas Carol with Bill and Ted. Looking at their lives and really kind of rediscovering what they’re about.”
