Police in the Spanish city of Sevilla have arrested five people over the robbery of 4000kgs of oranges.

The Citrus Bandits piled up the load of oranges into two cars before they were pulled over by local police for driving suspiciously close to each other.

On inspection of the cars, police thought they had a juicy lead when they found an absolute stack of oranges lying loosely in both vehicles, arresting the bandits on the spot.

The crims claimed that the fruit was found "far away" and they collected them from the ground, which let's be honest, is one hell of forrage - a story that was quickly busted when police learned of a stolen shipment of oranges from the nearby town of Carmona.

Spain takes their citrus very seriously, exporting half of the European Union's supply of oranges.
