A bloke has been fined $476 after being caught watching a Steven Seagal movie on his phone while driving.

The 35-year-old man was waiting for lights to change at the intersection of Lower Heidelberg Road and Banksia Street in Heidelberg when the cops approached him on foot at about 7.05am.

He had a phone sitting in his lap playing a video that one of the cops recognised as a Steven Seagal movie.

The bloke was one of eight people caught on their phones at the intersection within half an hour.

The fine paperwork actually specifies that he was watching a Seagal movie:

There’s no word yet as to which movie he was watching, but if it was one of the later movies $476 may not be a big enough fine.
