A bloke in America has made a full on TV-quality ad to try and help sell his girlfriend’s 1996 Honda Accord, affectionately named ‘Greenie’.

The ad, shot by Max Lanman, shows his fiance Carrie driving around California while she pours herself coffee and changes songs on her iPod.

It also shows her using a tape adapter that highlights the lack of modern technology, and goes out of its way to point out the 141,095 miles (227070 km) the car has done .

“You don’t do it for appearances, you do it because it works,” the narrator says at one point.

“The car for people who have figured life out and just need to get somewhere.

“Luxury is a state of mind.”

The eBay listing of the car is now closed, but bidding had gotten up to nearly A$200,000 at one point — presumably due to joke bids.

It started at US$499 (A$652).
