Put this one down in the "only in Russia" category.

A bear, yes you that read that correctly, an actual bear has handed over the match ball to the referee at a third division Russian soccer match.

In the video the bear, Tim, can be seen being lead out by his carer before geeing up the crowd with a clap before handing over the ball to the referee, who, let's be completely honest here, is way too calm to be grabbing a soccer ball from a huge bear.

Forget all the question marks over Russia hosting this year's World Cup, they've found the answer in getting everyone's attention away from unfinished stadiums and political dramas - all they need is more bears.

To be honest, let's not just stop at handing over match balls, why not get a bear to officiate one of the boring games of the tournament?

In fact, let's draft one into the Socceroos side and chuck them up front as a striker. Imagine Matthew Leckie banging in crosses to an eight foot tall bear? We'd be unstoppable.
