One bloke has massively botched a Valentine's Day present, mistakenly buying tickets to the Red Hot Chili Pipers.

British Twitter user Duncan Robb thought he'd be seeing the Red Hot Chili Peppers a few days ago, believing he had a great deal when he snagged some seemingly cheap tickets.

The gig was in Belfast, Ireland, but that was no drama for Robb, with him and his girlfriend right to fly over.

All seemed well until his girlfriend reportedly looked up the gig online to see who was opening for the Chili Peppers and got no results.

That's because Robb bought tickets to the Red Hot Chili Pipers, not the Red Hot Chili Pipers.

The Pipers market themselves as the "most famous bagpipe band on the planet", with the Scottish band performing 200 live shows a year.

They've had to clarify about the mix up before so people don't get confused again.

“We’re always extremely careful in all advertising. We’ve made sure to put kits and bagpipes on all the pictures," they wrote.

"We would never ever try to pass ourselves off as the Red Hot Chili Peppers, we respect them too much."
