Former North Melbourne star and AFL games record holder Brent Harvey has opened a sports pub in Melbourne’s north.

Harvey has long dreamed of opening a bar, and got the chance after retiring from the AFL at the end of last year.

Harvey famously closed the door on his AFL career after the Kangaroos decided against giving him a new contract, retiring with 432 games under his belt.

He bought the pub — which he’s named Miller Street, after its location in outer northern suburb Epping — late last year and set about renovating it with his partner.

It opened three weeks ago and boasts 20 screens showing sport and can cater for almost 1000 people, and will have live bands on Friday and Saturday nights.

Boomer will be playing with his brother Shane at North Heidelberg in the Northern Football League’s second division this year.
