The police in Dubai have announced that they’ll soon be flying around on electric hoverbikes.

The Hoversurf Scorpion was unveiled at the Gitex Technology Week conference and can reach speeds of up to 70km/h.

It can fly at heights of up to five metres, meaning cops can get over traffic if need be.

"The bike can also fly without a passenger and and can go up to six kilometres," First Sergeant Ali Ahmad Mohammad told Gulf News.

"It can fly for 25 minutes and can carry up to 300kg of weight at a speed of 70kph."

The company that makes the bikes, Hoversurf, posted a video of a Dubai cop using one:

The future is now.
