American golfer Dustin Johnson has channelled his inner Happy Gilmore, absolutely smashing a drive from the tee of a par four.

Johnson creamed the ball down the fairway on the 12th hole of Hawaii's Kapalua Resort - The Plantation Course; hitting the ball an incredible 420 yards (328 metres!) to come just six inches away from the hole.

If Johnson's ball had have rolled that extra six inches, he would have been just the second person in PGA history to hit a hole-in-one on a par four, following Andrew Magee at TPC Scottsdale in 2001.

Johnson ended up taking out the Kapula Resort PGA contest by eight shots, pocketing a cool $6,300,000 USD for his efforts.
