Somebody call National Geographic because we have the Wildlife Photograph of the Year winner right here.

A young golfer came a cropper on the green over the weekend after he stumbled into the nesting area of two bloody enormous geese.

Isaac Couling, a 16-year-old from the US, was taking part in a tournament at Wolf Creek Golf Course in Michigan when he was swooped in an attack that was, thankfully, caught on camera from the clubhouse.

The photos were uploaded to the Blissfield Athletics Twitter along with a blow-by-blow account of the action.

"To the left there was a goose nest and the golfers did a good job of avoiding it but the guard goose (hanging out on the far right) thought differently," they wrote.

"The goose comes from behind him and caught him off-guard. He was keeping an eye on another goose at the time.

"He stood up after the second picture and tripped trying to run away resulting in the third picture."

Poor Isaac chatted to the Detroit News afterwards, saying that absolutely no-one came to his rescue.

"No-one came to help," he said. "All the coaches saw it from the clubhouse. You could see it from there. It's pretty crazy. All my friends were talking about it.

"The golfers just finished teeing off and were walking down the fairway."

Guess it wasn't the birdie he was looking for, eh?
