Game of Thrones will be getting a prequel, with a untitled pilot episode ordered for a new series.
HBO has ordered a pilot for an untitled prequel series, created by George R.R. Martin and Jane Goldman.
"Only one thing is for sure: from the horrifying secrets of Westeros' history to the true origin of the White Walkers, the mysteries of the East to the Starks of legend… it's not the story we think we know," the show's logline reads.
There's no launch date for the series, with no plans to launch the prequel before the show's finale in 2019.
"We're not using the final season to launch a new show or anything like that," HBO president Casey Bloys told EW.
"There's going to be a separation between the two. These are among the best writers working and I'm hopeful."
But brace yourselves: a prequel is coming.
