To the world's disbelief, the underdogs managed to defeat England 2-1 in the last 16 - and now it has become clear how the country celebrated.
Asgeir Petur Thorvaldsson, a doctor in Reykjavik, tweeted that his maternity ward had administered more pain relief over the weekend than any other.
Last weekend coincidentally lines up exactly 9 months since the match.
