A Tokyo rail company rail company has issued a public apology after one of their trains departed 20 seconds early.

Management on the Tsukuba Express line between Tokyo and the city of Tsukuba issued a statement "sincerely apologising for the inconvenience" caused.

Tsukuba Express management said they were highly embarrassed their train that was scheduled to leave at 9:44:40 local time instead left at 9:44:20.

To be honest, we as a world population cannot stand for this complete lack of professionalism. How DARE a train leave 20 seconds early...

According to the statement, the mistake happened because staff had not checked the timetable.

"The crew did not sufficiently check the departure time and performed the departure operation," it said.

For the record, absolutely zero people made a complaint to the train company about the apparent "inconvenience", they just continued to live their day as if a train didn't just leave 20 seconds before its scheduled departure.
