Jimmy Kimmel has spoken in intimate detail about what happened at the end of the Oscars.
The Oscars host said that he was sitting with Matt Damon near the front row when he realised things has gone wrong.
“You kind of figure ‘Well the host will go on stage and clear this up’ then I remember ‘Oh, I’m the host’,” Jimmy said.
“There is mass confusion, the audience is confused, the people standing around me are confused and I’m probably supposed to do something because no one is doing anything.”
“So we have the producers of two movies on stage and who the hell even know who is who from which movie, and I’m standing there like an idiot feeling bad for these guys but also trying hard not to laugh to be honest.”
Jimmy says that Denzel Washington then started yelling out Barry.
“Eventually I figure out that Barry Jenkins is the director of Moonlight (and) is standing behind me and Denzel wants me to get him to the microphone to make a speech which you know, made sense,” Jimmy said.
“Thank god Denzel was there.”
Jimmy couldn’t help but have a quick stab at his longtime nemesis Matt Damon.
“What ever confusion there was about who won, Matt Damon lost because he is a loser,” Kimmel said.
