A Swedish mother has renamed her son after getting a tattoo of his name, and having it misspelled.

The mother, Johanna Giselhäll Sandström, wanted her son's name - then Kevin - tattooed on her arm, alongside the name of her other child, Nova.

But the tattoo came out wrong.

“I said I wanted the names of my children tattooed on me and I gave the artist their names. The artist drew the design and didn’t ask anything about the spelling so I didn’t give it any more thought,” she told local newspaper Blekinge Läns Tidning.

“My heart stopped and I thought I was going to faint."

Instead of opting for tattoo removal, Sandström just casually changed the name of her kid, who was two years old at the time.

“We decided to rename the boy,” she said.

“I had never heard the name ‘Kelvin’ before. There isn’t anyone who names their kid Kelvin. So when I thought more about it, I realized that no one else has this name. It became unique. Now we think it is better than Kevin."
