It was a large night on Sunday for one loose unit in Darwin who decided to have a kip on the bonnet of a complete stranger's car.

NT government worker David Creeper found the drunkard passed out on his car around 11:30pm and spent five minutes trying to rouse the bloke before he stirred and slid down the bonnet.

“He was absolutely wasted,” Mr Creeper said.

“You could smell the liquor and he was really drunk and never said a word. I hopped into my car then he tried to enter the driver’s side door while I was in the car.”

Mr Creeper and a friend attempted to drive off, but was halted by the bonnet bandit's attempts at entering the backdoor of his car.

“I moved the car forward a bit and then he opens the back passenger door — I sped off,” he said.

“I have no idea why he chose to get on my car and then decide to sleep on my car.”

The fate of the rest of the bonnet sleeper's night is unknown.
