Australia's very own darts superstar, Simon 'The Wizard' Whitlock was just involved in the worst professional darts match of all time.

Competing in the Professional Darts Corporation World Championships (championship?) at the famous Ally Pally, Whitlock was pitted against babyfaced German Martin Schindler.

For those unfamiliar with the sport of kings, the first person to successfully score 501 points, finishing the game of with a 'double' wins.

And it was that 'double' that troubled Whitlock and Schindler to no end.

In the third leg of the match the pair had 22 (that's TWENTY TWO) attempts at hitting a double to win the leg between them, and kept missing.

It got down to both players needing double one and even that proved tricky:

Schindler eventually hit the double one to win the leg but it wasn't enough to topple The Wizard who went on to win the match 3-1.
