Perth’s new Optus Stadium made its debut in yesterday’s ODI against England.

There were a few hiccups — mostly food, drink and streaker related — but the cricket game itself was quite memorable, with the Aussies throwing away what looked like a certain win with a batting collapse.

The opening of the stadium opened conversations about what the nickname of the new stadium should be, with 9 News Perth suggesting the Craypot, Thunderdome and the Colinseeum (presumably after former premier Colin Barnett).

But the popular vote is going to a more simple nickname — Jeff.

It appears to have first been suggested by Ahmed Taha, in memory of his ’10 times Football champion grandpa’.

The idea has resonated with the people of Perth:

It’s time to give the good people of Perth what they want — this stadium must be nicknamed Jeff.
